Vancouver Island is about 350 miles long, and 50 miles wide. The Comox Valley is mid-point on the east coast. The majestic Comox Glacier overlooks the entire valley. There are many beaches looking over Johnston Strait. Mainland BC is about 40 miles away. The Valley is home to one of the world's largest populations of bald eagles. Many glacier-fed rivers meander through the Valley.
Nearby Hornby, Denman and Tree Islands have more beautiful beaches that are popular kayaking destinations. Comox lake is renowned for water skiing, fishing, camping, and swimming. The river delta provides thick topsoil and rich growing conditions. Whether it's farming or gardening, the Valley can't be beat! Canada Geese and Trumpeter swans make the Valley their winter home. Breathtaking views make the Comox Estuary a nature lover's paradise.
Safe and sane, or rough and tumble, the Comox Valley offers walking, hiking and mountain biking for people of all ages. Ahh! Swimming in a mountain stream, cool lake or ocean is a great way to spend a sunny day. Spend an afternoon in the sun on one of the Comox Valley's sandy beaches. Saltwater or fresh, we have it all! Baseball, soccer, basketball, hockey, tennis, gymnastics, competitive swimming and many other organized sports are readily available. Visit the Mount Washington Ski Resort with chairlifts, t-bars, poma lifts, and handle tows. They'll get you up the slope, but it's up to you to get back down!
